ABDUL SALAM II (Sheikh of Barzan) (c. 1882–c. 1915). The older brother of the legendary Mullah Mustafa Barzani and thus an uncle of the current Barzani leader, Massoud Barzani. The Barzani tribe Abdul Salam II headed was known for its religious and military leadership. Abdul Salam himself was called “the Sheikh of the Christians” because of his tolerance. He also was known as a representative of nascent Kurdish nationalism during the waning days of the Ottoman Empire. He was captured and hanged by the Ottomans during the early years of World War I.

عبد السلام الثاني (شيخ عشيرة البرزنجية) (1882-1915) الأخ الأكبر للملا مصطفى البرزاني وعم مسعود البرزاني الزعيم الحالي لكردستان، عرف عبد السلام الثاني بين قبيلته بزعامته الدينية و العسكرية، وأطلق عليه (شيخ المسيحية) لشدة تسامحه، كما كان ممثلا للحركة الوطنية الكردية الناشئة في فترة ضعف وانحدار الدولة العثمانية، اعتقل و اعدم شنقا على يد القوات العثمانية في بواكير الحرب العالمية الاولى.
